The Salon Bois Energie 2007 was staged for the first time in Orleans in April 2007 welcoming 7 000 visitors from all across Europe - the large majority being professionals from the French wood energy sector.
The distinctive hallmark of this unique event - being the end-to-end coverage of the entire wood energy chain - was strongly reinforced by a diverse range of parallel events organised to showcase the sector in its best light, including :
- indoor exhibition area presenting the broadest and most comprehensive range of wood energy actors in all of France with fully-functioning boilers, stoves and fireplaces thanks to a specially installed smoke extraction system
- outdoor exhibition area with many forestry and wood fuel production equipment fully operative from industrial scale to an individual level with guided tours
- conferences encompassing a special international day, a national day and two days of general public presentations brought pertinent themes to the fore with presenters stemming from 8 European countries and around 600 delegates attending during the course of the event
- competitions were organised to reward leading Innovations and best practise in wood energy installation, amongst others. The Wood Energy market :
- is a rapidly growing sector playing an increasingly important role in attaining regional, national and international renewable energy targets.

offers an expanding range of efficient and modern technologies for energy production in the form of heating, electricity and cooling
in the future offers the potential to generate liquid biofuels in the form of cellulosic ethanol
- offers a genuine opportunity to supply sustainable energy (local energy supply / sustainably managed forests / high-efficiency technologies etc.)
