U.S. containerboard paper production up 6.4% in November
Moscow. Dec 18, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. U.S. containerboard paper production in November rose for the first time in 2009 when compared to same month last year. Total production saw an increase of 164,300 tons or 6.4% over November 2008. Production was down 2.1% compared to October 2009, however, the daily average percent change was up 1.2%. The year to date production fell 9.5% compared to 2008, the American Forest & Paper Association reported.
As with total containerboard linerboard production rose over last year. It saw an increase of 7.7% from November, 2008. The current linerboard production fell 3.2% compared to October 2009 but the daily average was flat. Production for exports showed an 42.0% increase over this time last year and 4.7% growth over October 2009. For year to date, production decreased 8.6% over last year.
November medium production was up 25,600 tons or 3.4% from November 2008. Production increased by 0.9% over October 2009 while the daily average percent change rose 4.3%. Exports too, showed a sizeable increasing, posting a 37.4% growth over November 2008. Medium production fell 11.5% for the year to date.
