Voith to deliver fine paper machine to South Korea

Moscow. Aug 20, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Voith Paper said that it has been awarded a contract to supply Moorim Paper Group with a new integrated paper production line for woodfree coated, machine finished coated and woodfree uncoated paper grades for Moorim's DongHae pulp mill site in Ulsan, South Korea, PaperAge reported.

The new machine, PM 1, is designed to produce fine papers in a basis weight range of 75 to 150 g/sq m and have an annual capacity of about 450,000 tons, Voith said.

PM 1 will have a wire width of 9.300 mm and a design speed of 1.500 m/min, Voith added.

Start-up is slated for spring 2011.

The new machine will primarily use pulp produced on-site, and upon doing so would make Moorim the first integrated pulp & paper mill in South Korea, Voith noted.

After the machine's start-up, Moorim Paper Group's overall production output for fine paper will increase to over 1 million tons, positioning the company as the biggest fine paper producer in South Korea. This also includes the output of the already existing fine paper production lines of Jinju mill (PM 1 to 3) and of Daegu mill (PM 1 and 2), Voith said.
